May

yes. now.

This morning I was watching the news and a story came on about a mega-sale that Jetblue Airlines was having — all remaining seats on flights leaving Tuesday and Wednesday of this week were going for 10 dollars.  That’s a dollar less than the cheeseburger I had for dinner.  That’s $5 more than my happy hour margarita (yes, still drinking those, I’ll let you know when it becomes a problem).  10 dollars, people.  C’mon now.

So one thing very quickly led to another and tomorrow I’m headed to Boston to visit my dad and step-mom and east coast fur for the rest of the week.  FOR 10 DOLLARS.  (Okay, admittedly, my return ticket was full-price but “I’m going to Boston for 10 dollars” makes me sound wayyy more like a jetsetter, right? Right?)

Here’s the thing — I’m extremely grateful for Jetblue Airlines and their nutty marketing ploy that has, well, worked on me like a freakin’ charm.  But I’m mostly grateful for a lifestyle that allows me such freedom and flexibility.  When I first made plans to quit my day-job, this is the kind of stuff I imagined happening regularly — impromptu travel, spontaneous opportunities…, a (un) healthy margarita habit…  But it’s amazing how little of that I’ve done in the last five months.  Certainly because other stuff has been going on, sure, but sometimes I think I just need a little reminder.  Like, hey, remember that life you wanted to create for yourself?  Well, you’re living it.  Now.  Yes, now.  Don’t turn around like you’re not sure who I’m talking to.  YOU.  Yes, you.  And yes, now.  Yes.  Now.

Isn’t it funny how easy it is to forget that?

So Jetblue, you sly dog you, thanks for teaching me invaluable life lessons disguised as discount air tickets.  I will be sure to toast you with my in-flight margarita, somewhere over the Midwest, between yes and now…

Salut,

L

The sky, dudes.  The sky.
